Our place is a small homestay looking for community members (either permanent or transient). We have 7 hectares (17 acres), we do organic gardening for sustenance of the community which inhabits the space (no commercial), we have few animals (goats, chickens, cow).
The farm is located in an oasis, in the otherwise dry landscape of Baja, and is quite lush. We are at the base of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range which is beatiful for hikes, and 20 minutes drive from the ocean.
We have lots of fruit (guavas, mangoes, peaches) which fruit mostly during the summer.
The aim of this place is to provide a space for people to have time to be themselves and integrate into a productive community. We engage in diverse activities proper to independent living e.g. building our own structures, making cheese, mead, bread, cottage industry type crafts (leatherwork, pottery, etc.)
WWOOFERs are expected to participate in most activities but gardening and building are the main focus.
We have ample space for camping and a house for common use which includes an outdoor kitchen with stove and firewood oven, a hot shower and a storage room.
Work hours vary naturally with days and season but in general will not exceed 5 hours a day. We need most help during NOV-APR but we always need a couple of volunteers for the summer (people that can tolerate heat). During the summer activities are mostly gathering and processing fruit (and eating lots of it!).
Food is mostly provided by the gardens, but additionals like quinoa, rice, beans, oil, etc. are provided all the time. We also like spearfishing so fish is always an option.
Volunteers will also be invited to come camping and hiking whenever it happens.
Preferably minimum stay is one month and max stay will be addressed once volunteers are here, but it's not limited.
Winters can be cold, going as low as freezing on a few night of the year, but days are very pleasant, usually in the 20s C. Summers (JULY-SEP) are very hot, around 36 C but with the advantage of all the good fruit.
