What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
I am an alumni of Grow Portland’s Beginning Urban Farmers Apprenticeship program (2017), where we cultivated our own farm for the support of immigrant communities near our farm. I also worked in Nicaragua in 2013 as the Assistant Beekeeper Manager on the Telica Volcano for the NGO Nuevas Esperanzas, working in agriculture and Agroecology as a means towards sustainable community development.
What are your reasons for joining WWOOF Mexico?
Learning about sustainable living and agriculture, Getting to know Mexico better
What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
I love farming and working the soil is where I feel happiest. I’m fluent in Spanish and I hope to have my own biodynamic farm teaching conservation someday.
My name is Gail Blackburn. I have an organic farm in Barras de Piaxtla, Sinaloa, México. You can see the farm on this website or on my webpage at:www.larosaorganicos.com. we sell organic produce at the Mazatlan Organic Market on Saturday mornings starting on November 16th. I have lived here for 20 years and have had organic farms in northern California and Washington before coming here. We are now at the height of our planting season and could really use some help. If you are interested in coming here for at least a month, that is our minimum, please email me and let me know what your plans are. My email is larosaorganicos@gmail.com.
Thanks, Gail
