What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
I have been a manager of an organic chocolate manufacturer, working closely with the Soil Association in the UK.
What are your reasons for joining WWOOF Mexico?
Learning about sustainable living and agriculture
What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
I've recently retrained as an English teacher and am currently teaching in Queretaro, Mexico. I'm very interested in organic farming and would like gain a better understanding of organic farming on a grassroots level. I love the great outdoors and am a very hard working.
Hello Fiona Bell, I am Jackie a volunteer and Finca Argovia, Bruno is very busy at the moment so Il be giving a hand with new Woofers coming to la Finca,
Ok its sounds like it will be great to have someone with your experience,
La finca is a beautiful place with a lot of different activities so if you're still planning on coming count with us :)
the only favor I will like to ask you if that you stay in touch or to let us know on time if you change your mind that way we will know what people to expect since there's a lot of woofers that are requesting to come from Dec to February, and even tough we have a lot of space to accommodate we want to plan ahead for December since is one of the busiest season.
I am a new Woofer to Mexico, arriving shortly in a day or so to Mexico city. I hope to stay for a number of months and wish that I might also have some other things that I may contribute to the country. Your experience interests me, because, well I have a teaching degree and wonder about the possibility volunteer teaching down there. Though the catch is that I cannot speak Spanish. Would you mind if I asked you a few questions about your teaching experience?
So I`m in Mexico City currently...just staying with some great friends...and then I am on my way South to Oaxaca and Chiapas I pretty sure. I wan`t to do so Woofing on farms...a safe environment to pick up some spanish and not feel too overwhelmed. I`ve never travelled before really, if you couldn`t tell. So anyways...I believe I would be very interested in working at a ESL school where perhaps I may be able to volunteer some time and get some help with my Spanish as well. So have you been teaching over here for very long? and did you know Spanish before you came? What sort of environment was the school like that you worked for? I feel like I could contribute as a mentor...but with the rudimentary skills at Spanish language I think it would be difficult for me to be an effective teacher for children with no concept of the strange laws of the english language. Just curious of your take on this and whether you might be able to drop a name of a school or someone that I might be able to talk to about volunteering in Oaxaca or Chiapas.
Sincerely,
Solomon
