Hey daniel, my name is Tyler and i'm currently the wwoofer at Renato Dorffman's place in Puerto Morelos and he asked me to get in contact with people who are interested in volunteering here. as the farm goes: its fairly big, with a young fruit orchard, 20 or so raised vegetable beds, as well as fruiting banana trees. Renato buys food staples (lentils, barley, frijoles, aceite) and you can eat from the garden. there's a room with 3 beds for volunteers, and a cabana with a stove and refrigerator and table. volunteers work 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. duties consist of watering (takes 3 hours), fertilizing, planting (on the lunar-mayan calender), weeding, harvesting, caring for animals (chickens, turkeys, composting worms), and fumigating (seems like a lot but you could learn it in a week). we work with organic systems to accomplish this with emphasis on permaculture.
There's a good community here; Renato's a sculptor and musician and there's a lot of interesting people coming and going. The farm is in a small pueblo and Puerto Morelos (the beach) is a short collectivo trip or bikeride away.
if this sounds something you would be interested in, message me back and we can coordinate your arrival.
Regards,
Tyler
