I would love to spend a portion of my summer travels learning and working at local farms and ecotourist communities in Central and Southern Mexico . I was born and raised in Russia, finished the University in Houston and now live in Austin, Texas. During the year I work as a teacher in a middle school and help organize grassroots projects with local organizations.
I am a hard worker, resourceful, and diligent. Am not afraid to get my hands dirty, to work days away, and am eager to learn about developing sustainable communities. I love the multicultural aspect, where I can improve fluency of spanish while meeting like-minded folks from all over. Cooking is my greatest passion, and inventing foods with a bunch of unknown ingredients straight off the garden is too exciting; I have experience cooking professionally and creating recipes competitively. I am not prejudice to any good food either.
Despite spending a big portion of childhood on a farm, I do not have a green thumb, but always wanted another opportunity to develop the skills and the knowledge. I have worked in remote, self sustained lodges in Alaska and cabin resorts in Virgin Islands. Unaware of WWOOF at the time, my limited experience with this organization was living and tending berry garden on a farm in Homer, Alaska and helping at the barn for a few days while on a farm in Maui, Hawaii. I am now excited to see another side of it as a volunteer worker and an active participant in the community.
