Profile Information

What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
I grew up on a 10-acre organic farm in western NC. As a farmer's daughter, I grew up accompanying my Dad to tailgate markets, a tradition which I still enjoy doing today. On our farm we grow tomatoes, a variety of greens, fruit trees, and holly bushes. Throughout my time at Hendrix College, I've participated in the Urban Farming Project, whose goal is to foster community through sustainable food production. We put on annual educational festivals and donate the food we grow to the local food bank. I was lucky enough to travel to Tanzania and participate in Global Service Corp's Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security program two summers ago, where we worked with different farming groups interested in small-scale, bio-intensive agriculture without the use of pesticides. I am familiar with various aspects of organic farming, but I am eager to continue learning about more techniques and farming styles!
What are your reasons for joining WWOOF Mexico?
Learning about sustainable living and agriculture, Getting to know Mexico better
What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
I am excited to learn from all the WWOOFING community has to offer. I'm adaptable, hard-working, and responsible. I particularly love working outside and getting my hands dirty, and feel more alive and like myself when I'm in contact with living organisms.
