What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
right now I coordinate a 1.5 acre community garden and a volunteer program for an organic community farm (non profit) that farms 50 acres of a 138 acre city owned open space. This is my 2nd year working with this farm, my first year I worked on building manifolds and such for our 14 acre sub-surface drip irrigation system, did some field and greenhouse work and worked to get local schools out to our corn maze. I have also worked with school garden programs in albuquerque, NM and Portland, OR, primarily garden projects through a homeless outreach project with middle and high school students, but also built a garden at a great elementary school! I've been woofing a couple of times, a wonderful permaculture community in southern oregon (cob building, laying dry stacked foundations, chopping wood, harvesting blackberries, building compost, etc.) and an awesome off the grid organic wildland goat dairy in western new mexico (milking, pasteurizing, cheese making and working in permaculture gardens). I have also spend time volunteering at the Patch Adams Gesundheit! Institute preparing garden beds, planting trees and teaching college students about compost! All of my experiences farming and gardening have been valuable, memorable, fulfilling and mostly fun! Food is everything to me, my degree is in human development, and find that good food is a major key in all things human. I have a real love for birds and soil and am so happy to be surrounded by these every day!

I'm particularly interested in farming coffee as a potential crop when I have a farm in the future, anything I can learn about organic coffee will be very useful. I will be traveling in central america from november 2011 till probably may with the possibility of longer term stay if there is good work to do. Please let me know of any farms/projects you reccomend!
