Profile Information

What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
I have some direct experience in organic agriculture through private gardening, though have yet to experience it on a larger scale. It has been a passion of mine for years and I am devoting the next year of my life to learning as much theory and hands-on technique as possible before starting my Master's in Environmental Science with a focus on sustainable food production. I do have a foundation of knowledge about organic agriculture through reading, transcribing interviews with local organic farmers for the Ecology Action Centre, and speaking with farmers at local markets. In addition, I have direct experience in sustainable development work through my 2011/2012 CIDA internship in the Philippines, where I assisted in the planning and creation of a biological baseline inventory for a sustainable development project in the coastal fishing community of Binduyan.
What are your reasons for joining WWOOF Mexico?
Learning about sustainable living and agriculture, Getting to know Mexico better
What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
I am an energetic, caring and peaceful person with a strong passion for the sustainable food movement. I thrive when immersed in creative communities of music, art, and innovative thinking about sustainability, but also enjoy periods of reflection and focus on personal growth. I surf, play guitar and sing, and absolutely love avocadoes and coriander! I am looking forward to spending time with the land and with farmers to learn about how challenges are being overcome in producing food sustainably, and also to learning the language and culture of Latin American countries while contributing my time and energy to the daily operations of organic farms.

Hi Erica,

Sorry to be so late in getting back to you, but December was busy, and i was away for part of it, without internet. Right now our little dorm is full, so we cannot accept you at this time, until further notice. So sorry. Please keep in touch. We do accept a few day workers as extras, in exchange for food only, according to the amount of work we have in our gardens, if that works for you.

Hey Kippy!

I hope all is well! No worries about that, I know it's not easy keeping up with communications under those circumstances. I'm currently at Tierra Plena in Chichihuistan for another week or two then will be headed back to San Cristobal where I'll be staying in Maria Adelina Flores. How far away is your farm? It could work for me to come work on the days I'm needed, depending on the distance! Let me know when we get the chance and we can work something out. Looking forward!

Cheers,

Erica

Hi again, Erica!

Come anytime as an extra day worker! Ask for me, or for Sofia, at La Casa del Pan, Andador Real de Guadalupe 55 (one block from Maria Adelina Flores), and we will set you up to work with the other wwoofers, in exchange for food. We may actually have space for you in the dorm for a couple of days, depending on when you arrive.

Safe travels, kippy
