What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
Hey everyone, my name is Braulio…yes that is my first name! I’m a first-generation Latino American. I grew up in the South Bronx, infamously known for the “dangers” of gangs, drugs and alcohol. The best thing I remember achieving in high school was travelling to Malawi, Africa to help build a school in remote village. That was the first time I saw poverty and became extremely blessed to be born in U.S. regardless of where I was raised. I was fortunate enough to get a “full ride” (well 95% paid) scholarship to St. Lawrence University in New York. During college, I did many community service projects at local farms, schools and with Habitat for Humanity. In the summers I worked as an outdoor educator and camp counselor. One thing I cherish most about college is participating in a program called “The Adirondack Semester”. Twelve students including myself lived without running water, cell phone service, television and computers! It was just us, the woods, the lake and beautiful stars out at night. I was fortunate to detach my self from social media, technology and society for 2 ½ months. This experience was a reflective one, it made me realize how much I want to go back to New York City and help out my community. Lastly, I love travelling! I been all over the east coast, Colorado, the United Kingdom, China and now California.
