What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
The Landowner and co-manager has worked in agriculture for most of his life. The farm manager has a degree in Equine Science and Stable and Farm Management, has worked in viticulture, equines, bovines, field crops, vegetables, and has a certificate in Biodynamic French Intensive Gardening.

Welcome to Cuatros Vientos!! This farm is being operated under a new business partnership. The fields, etc, have not been worked in about 2 years. Everything has been plowed and disced. We are going to develop the property into a model of permaculture using Biodynamic French Intensive Beds based on the model Alan Chadwick pioneered at USC. You can read about this model here: http://www.alan-chadwick.org/html%20pages/techniques/garden_plants/.... Beds will be constructed to hold precious water in this arid land. Bed construction is in the very early stages at this point. The farm land IS organic, but has not been certified yet. The farm has not had live in workers for a while, so carpentry, painting, construction, plumbing, and cleaning skills would be valued. The Bunk spaces for volunteers need to be remade and made functional. There is so much to do!! We expect to get our first actual crops in the ground in November, however we strongly encourage our first bed built to be planted for our own food and sustainability. Self directed workers who can see what needs to be done, and apply their skills to do so are a PLUS!!! Keep in mind we are starting ground up and from scratch, so be prepared. We need a lot of brush cut and cleared, fence lines secured, etc. We also LOVE drum circles, eating together, homemade music, and a collective atmosphere. Please contact the farm Manager initially and she will let the Owner know if you are coming to help us so he can meet you at the farm. She will be living onsite by mid-October. About Where we are Located; We are surrounded by 555 trees in an urban dwelling 15 minutes from Tijuana where there is significant nightlife and mingling. We are an easy walk or bicycle to town for food and supplies. Arts and Music abound and are valued here in the Baja. We are about 2 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean in the town of Rosarito, there's transportation everywhere and we are 40 minutes from Baja California's wine country and 1 hour from Ensenada...Hope to see you soon.
Thank you so much for your generosity. I have been reading about the culinary scene in Baja for the past several months and am so interested in it that I decided to go stay there for several weeks. My goals are to learn about organic farming, to visit El Valle de Guadalupe wine country and Rancho La Puerta wellness resort, to explore the local cuisine of Baja and hopefully to work at a good restaurant if I can to learn as much as possible while I'm there. As a chef, I am so excited to experience the Baja food culture as it seems to combine my favorite cuisines (Mexican and Mediterranean). I will be travelling from April 1st - May 18th and would love to stay with you for as long as I am welcome. I'm very hardworking, passionate and eager to learn. Hey Rodrigo! Me, Sunny, and Eva are currently in Tijuana.. We got held up because it was very difficult finding the immigration office to get out passports stamped. We are going to stay one more night at our friends house here, and leave early tomorrow. We may take the toll road because we heard it was safer... How would we get to the ranch from the toll road? I hope this doesn't complicate things too much. If all goes as planned we will see you tomorrow!

directions to the ranch, cross the border and take the exit to Rosarito libre (no toll road or free road) go passed La Gloria which is uphill on the cement highway then theres a downhill until you get to the first streetlight with a pedestrian bridge here you just past a large gas station with an oxxo store that was on your right hand and now you are at the stoplight with the pedestrian bridge and on the corner theres a Zeta gas station next to the bridge make a Right turn before passing the bridge and on this block before going up the hill theres two ranch entrances take the one on the left where there are a lot of telephone poles and keep to your left on the dirt road until you see a pair of white houses with green trim......home 661 100 0000 cell 664 194 7514...see u soon...

My name is Jenny Chen, and I just graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (in Philadelphia, a city in the northeastern United States) in May, and am planning to travel to Mexico during the summer before I begin work in the fall! I'll be in Mexico City from June 9 - June 15. I would love an opportunity to volunteer on your farm and learn more about sustainable agriculture! For the past 4 years, I've worked on various urban and rural farms in the northeastern and midwestern United States, and have a lot of experience with vegetable production and large-scale composting. I would love to contribute my labor and experience, and also have an opportunity to practice my very beginner Spanish (as well as do a language exchange if anyone is interested in practicing English or learning Mandarin Chinese)!
