What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
I am a very enthusiastic first time traveller. I work in the community arts sector and have a passion for community development. I have recently graduated from a philosophy course in Glasgow, UK, whereby I specialised in environmental ethics. As such I am a passionate about environmental issues and really keen to get some more hands-on experience. I am friendly, eager to learn, and not afraid to get my hands dirty. I hope to bring what I have learned home in order to launch a community arts project which encourages refugees to get involved in creative gardening. Would love to benefit from others' experience. In return I can offer hard work and a cheery disposition! I love meeting people and learning new things. My interests include the arts, socialising, rock climbing, hiking and vegetarian food.
Gracias Dawn, por contactar con nuestro proyecto.

Hello Dawn! Sorry for the delay in answering. We had family here! We would love to host you in November to work in our seed-saving garden and the roof garden. Do you speak Spanish? You will need Spanish here, at least some, to get around, and you´ll have more fun, too. The San Cristobal community is interesting, diverse, and there are many creative people here. The mayan farmers and their culture are from a tradition thousands of years old. November is a good time to come. We garden all year ´round. You might bring a few heirloom vegetable seeds from your area, if possible, but invisible to customs officials. Ours is an exchange program. We save seeds by growing and trading them, (we don´t sell them), and after 10 years at this, we have a large variety! Officials are concerned about controlling diseases, so don´t bring meat, dirt or fresh fruit or vegetables! Don´t even visit a farm before flying internationally, either. They might ask you if you´ve been on a farm recently. By the way, it´s not required to bring anything, just readiness to work! More infor later. Saludos, Kippy
Hi Dawn! We will be away at a conference until Nov. 9. We can´t accept volunteers while we´re away, so please plan to start work after the 9th. Thanks for your interest, and i hope this works for you. kippy

Hi Dawn, I'm sorry to reply so late. I'n no longer managing divertigranja, and we have a volunteer coordinator who lives in Oaxaca and can be reached at the farm WWOOF site. You sound like a very interesting person with varied skills. I hope you can make it! They really need people who can help right now with the terrible flooding they have been having at the farm. And there's sure to still be plenty of repair work to be done through November.
This is great, too. You'd need to commit to more than a month to be actively involved in the educational component. It takes that long to learn everything in terms of chores and project priorities, etc. I really hope you can go to divertigranja. Our first ever volunteer was from scotland, she's in a veterinary nursing program there now.
