What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
I'm making my own garden, trying to use a few basic principles I believe in (no spading; associates growing; basic biodynamics). I 'm the builder of my house, using natural and local components...and good and cheap ideas ! My friend is in the same trend, but as a professionnal carpenter and roofer.
What are your reasons for joining WWOOF Mexico?
Learning about sustainable living and agriculture, Getting to know Mexico better
What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
I travel with a friend of mine. We're both in the late fourties, get used to be on our own. We want to to meet people and to learn from them, considering it's the best experience in life. We've chosen mexico because of the holy places we want to visit. It's a trip we want to be a step in our spiritual growing. We want to meet indigen people and to meet us, in the same time.

Olivier,
Yes, I am currently the only volunteer at Renato's farm and can give you the details of life and work here. His farm is located in a pueblo near Puerto Morelos and consists of a young fruit tree orchard, a large vegetable and herb garden of raised beds, and mature banana, nance, and almond trees. Daily chores consist of watering, fertilizing, mulching, fumigating, caring of animals (15 chickens, 4 turkeys, worms for composting), compost maintenance, and watering. Renato expects 7 hours (more less) of work 5 days a week in return for a room and food staples (lentils, frijoles, barley, oil, oatmeal, sugar, toilet paper, etc.).
Puerto Morelos is a small, beach community located 30 minutes drive south of Cancun and north of Playa del Carmen. This is a very nice community, and the people associated with Renato (he is a sculptor and musician) are all very interesting. He'll be thrilled to know you are interested in coming to volunteer. To be clear, there are two of you and you are planning to come in the middle of September?
Also, Renato owns land in the state of Chiapas and is in the design phase of creating a farm down there wholly dedicated to the principles of permaculture with the corresponding goal of interacting with local, indigenous peoples to facilitate a diffusion of information about agriculture, the region, and life in general. Renato will need volunteers for this project also, following a period of introduction working in Puerto Morelos.
If this sounds interested let me know, as well as the specifics of your arrival and any questions you may have regarding travel arrangements. I look forward to hearing back from you.
Olivier,
Everything looks great with your profile. Renato prefers a commitment of at least a month, especially for the work in Palenque. I will tell him and we can expect you in the middle of September. I will go ahead and tell you how to get here from Cancun, so you'll know for sure. From the Airport get to the ADO bus terminal (taxi, collectivo), buy a ticket for Puerto Morelos (they leave fairly often) for something like 20 pesos. When you get off in Puerto, take a taxi to calle ocho or walk and ask the direction of calle ocho. (3 km or so from the highway). RIGHT BEFORE you get to calle ocho there is a gate on the left, this is Renato's farm. There's a large studio building on your right when you come in.
Were all really excited to hear from you. I will be back in the United States then but I hope you guys have a wonderful trip. i've been here four months wwoofing and can give you some tips about farms in the southern part of the country, after you leave Quintana Roo.
