Hi Rasmus,  I will have need for help for at least from December 8th through the 1st week of January 2013.   Currently I have all female wwoofetts, as my husband is gone for most of the month of November for the Baja 1000 race.  I are you planning to travel?  How do you feel about working with animals?  I need help with animal husbandry through milking.  We should have our milking machine up and running by then and hopefully 12 to 14 goats in milk.  Check out our Facebook page and let me know if this still sounds like some thing you would like to commit at least 30 days to. Gracias,

Lisa

Hi Rasmus, below is the word document I send with all the current info.  Please let me know that you are still on-board once you have reviewed it.  We try to be as structured and yet as flexible as possible.

Thank you for inquiring about coming to Whitt's End Rancho, home of our happy Cabo Goats.  We specialize in artisan style, hand crafted uniquely delicious goat dairy products.

We look for people who are motivated, hardworking and fun loving.  We work about 8 hours a day and it is a 6 or even 7 day week depending how many wwoofers we have.  At very minimum, we try to take a least 1 day per week after morning milking chores as a beach day for all.  We always try to keep it fun.  The health, care and well being of our animals are our top priorities.

Our days begin early.   Woofers are responsible for getting their own breakfast with food we provide and cleaning up after, before starting work.  We work from 7 to 11, break for lunch, then work from 12 to 2.  The next 2 hours are free.  The evening meal is prepared and served about 4pm.  We have our evening chores from about 5 to 7.  The common room / dining room closes by 9.  But everyone is usually tired and ready for bed before this.  The work ranges from the pens through milking the goats, the cheese kitchen as well as domestic duties in the house, ie cooking and cleaning, ranch maintenance, special infrastructure projects, and working the farmers markets.  All meals are prepared by WWOOFers.  Ideally there are week long task assignments and then WWOOFers rotate into a different area to keep the work fresh and interesting.  This also gives WWOOFers an opportunity to receive well rounded hands on experience of our entire opeatation.

We offer tent camping at this point but are looking to build permanent wwoof housing.  There are full bathroom facilities as well as laundry facilities for wwoofers.  The weather here in the winter stay in the 70 and low 80s during the days and rarely drops in to the low 50s at night.

We will have lots of babies here beginning in November and through December so our milk and cheese production will really increase soon as will the work load.  We have a new milking machine system coming on with the new volume.

It is really important you realize how remote Whitt’s End Rancho’s location is.  We are 30 miles from San Jose del Cabo.  The road is horrible after all the summer rains.  It takes 1 ½ hours to drive  the 30 miles from town.  When the roads are graded, it will take more like 1 hour.  There is nowhere for 10 miles to spend money.  We are on a hill side overlooking the Sea of Cortez which is about 2 miles away.  The winter is the most populated time of year, but is still very quiet and remote.  The stars at night are amazing, as is the sound of the crashing surf.  We can see whales from the roof of the house when they breach from December through April.  We offer pick and return service to & from San Jose del Cabo to our WWOOfers because it would be unreasonable to expect anyone to find there way here, especially without transportation.

Have a look at our Whitt's End Rancho FaceBook page.  There are photos and a short video of our rancho.  Get back to me if this sounds like something you would like to commit.  Currently we ask a minimum of 30 days.   However I am seeking wwoofers who are willing to commit to 3 to 6 months after a 2 week trial.

I have penciled you in for the 8th through the 9th of Feb as I am in town on Wednesdays and Saturdays and can pick you up from the airport.

I will provide a list of things you should bring once we are finalizing your arrival.

Warm regards,

Lisa

Sounds great Rasmus, See you in December.  Let me know when you are in San Jose del Cabo.  Please provide your email, I find it easier than wwoof's web-sight.

Travel safe,

Lisa
