Profile Information

What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
Most of our experience with organic agriculture has come from our lifestyle and surroundings growing up in the Pacific Northwest of the United States and valuing the methods and care that go into growing, harvesting, preparing and eating organic foods. We appreciate a wholistic approach to organic agriculture and desire to learn more hands-on. We have practice in starting a garden from seed, preparing compost, transplanting seedlings, mulching, weeding, watering and harvesting, and seed saving a variety of fruits and vegetables in our own organic gardens. My wife and I are both avid cooks and have commercial baking and cooking experience. We are both familiar with woodworking techniques and are enthusiastic to learn and gain more experience with sustainable development skills.

What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
My wife and I are traveling throughout Mexico for an undetermined amount of time in our truck/camper, so housing is not necessary for us if we have an appropriate place to park. We are both proactive, hard working and reliable. I am able to speak and understand Spanish at an intermediate level, and my wife is a beginning Spanish speaker. We both desire to advance our Spanish communication skills. Our sweet and well behaved 6 year old dog, Walker, is traveling with us.

A bit more about us:

Tristan:

Hi there!  I am an enthusiast of many things in life.  I enjoy simple living, working hard, and creating a positive environment in which to live.  I have been fortunate enough to have been able to travel in more than 40 countries and within these experiences learn more about the world and myself.  I enjoy outdoor sports like rock climbing, hiking, and am currently trying to learn to surf here on the beautiful Mexico coast.  We are loving the Mexico culture and are trying to spend as much time are possible absorbing it.  Gracias!

Kristi:

I grew up, and spent a majority of my life, in Oregon in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, where the growing season is long, the temperatures moderate, and the rain is often. Growing food has been an integral part of my life and soul and with it much happiness has been shared around the table with friends and family, old and new. I love to cook and want to learn some traditional ways of Mexican cuisine as it is such a part of the culture here. I strongly desire to work on multiple farms while we travel throughout Mexico, so that I may learn Spanish fluently, learn the permaculture which different farms utilize and contribute to the communities which surround them.
