La Rosa has gardens scattered all over the Barras de Piaxtla in which we are planting all kinds of organic produce to sell at the Organic Farmer's Market in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. You can see pictures of the gardens and our market stall on La Rosa’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/larosadelasbarrasfarm
WWOOFers will be expected to work 6 hours per day, 5 days per week helping plant, weed, harvest and sometimes help at the farmers market. It is an opportunity to learn all aspects of running a small scale organic farm. It is hard physical labor and we work early in the morning starting at 6:30 when it is coolest.
Description of accommodation meals provided: WWOOFers stay in a one bedroom apartment on the second floor of my house with a full kitchen and bathroom and porch overlooking the pacific ocean, bay, mountains and estuaries of the Federal Environmental Protection Zone of the Meseta de Cacaxtla. There is a full kitchen and La Rosa will provide all of the food necessary for all meals. Do expect to share the apartment with other WWOOFers and do your own cooking.
We require a minimum stay of one month, with no maximum and only accept people during the planting/market season from September through April. Barras de Piaxtla is one hour north of Mazatlan, there is a bus line that runs from Estacion Dimas which is ten K north of us to Mazatlan. For those that like to surf, there is good surfing in the area and we have kayaks that you can use sometimes.
