We start with a baseline of 2 weeks but it depends on how things go.
After the first week we could sit down and talk and see how we both are feeling and then decide to extend the period for more than 2 weeks.
We all feel good and get along well, then who knows, maybe you can share this experience for a year! :)

We basically produce edible plants, pumpkins, squash, green tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, red tomatoes, melons, chile, corn, etc.
The most wwoofers at a time we have had is 7.
Now we have 3 volunteering.
I see you are from brooklyn. My friend and I are actually flying out of NYC for our trip to WWOOF Guadalajara. I don't know where abouts you are or for that matter where my friend we will be staying with IS in brooklyn, but I thought that was interesting.

Light boots to protect your feet.
Sometimes the soil is a little muddy.
Tennis shoes could make it but they will get dirty.
Some kind of hiking shoes , too.
