What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
A permaculture based farm in North Carolina, USA, took me in and showed me some incredible techniques geared towards sustainable living. I helped tend pigs and chickens, manage fuel requirements for heating (wood), learned how to think laterally in terms of overall systems design - building organic matter in soil, selecting and favouring appropriate species for the landscape, contouring, building water and fertility retention systems and much more.

What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
My name is Phil Garozzo and I live with the belief that each person I meet can teach me something new, something I didn't yet know about the world, and, often times, something I didn't yet know about myself. In my 22 years I have traveled over 19 countries, but never Mexico. I have lived in the Rockies of Canada, I have traversed, climbed and fallen in love with the South American Continent, and as of right now, my toes are itching for further adventures in foreign lands. It is indicitive of my fondness for the latin American peoples that I see Mexico as a fine place to carry these out. My interest in the Spanish Language is again a reason to live and work in Mexico. At this time I live in my home city of Brisbane, Australia, and it is here where I first started my Spanish education; firstly at a small college, then independently, until continuing further at University. I see Woofing as a chance to keep Spanish in my life and reinforce the language so I will also have it. More than this though, the chance to experience sustainable living is paramount. I need to learn how to live more aptly with the earth in order to conduct my life more responsibly wherever my feet rest. Sadly though, I do not know nearly as much as I'd like to about permaculture design and sustainability, however my will to learn, for me, makes this barrier miniscule. I want to be a part of this great organisation and its profound message of sustainable living. I hope to have the pleasure of meeting all of you!

Hi Phil,

Congratulations on your Spanish! It will do fine here on the farm! Actually, it´s a big vegetable garden, financed in part by sales of veggies and seeds to La Casa del Pan, our vegetarian restaurant where the wwoofer dorm is located. We will be happy to host you here in the months to come (when?).

Keep in touch, and safe travels, kippy

Muchísimas gracias Kippy! I try... Haha

That's amazing that you'll be able to host me ! In terms of when I will arrive - I was planning to be Chiapas by April, at this stage. Will around that time work for you ?

Suerte y que mantenga el contacto!

Phil

Hola Phil,

Abril sería bueno para que vengas con nosotros. No tenemos otros wwoofers para abril todavía. We just need to firm up the dates. There is always a lot of work to do at the garden! Espero que te guste trabajar y aprender trabajando. Tenemos un equipo de muy buena gente, y te esperamos.

Hola Phil,

Our dorm will be occupied until the 7th of April, so plan on arriving that day, please. If you arrive before the 7th, you could work with us, but you would have to pay for your lodging elsewhere.

Hola Phil,
Está bien a finales de abril. We can make that change for you, and I hope you can keep that date, to make our scheduling easier. We have a lot of requests and only 3 beds in our little "dorm!"
Safe travels,
Kippy
By the way, "finales de abril" comes on a Wednesday, the middle of the week. We plan Wwoofer changes on Saturdays, so either the Last Saturday in April or the first Saturday in May? Which will it be?

Hi Phil,

i have to leave town to attend a funeral in the US. I will be returning to San Cristobal on May 13. However, you can still come and work with Israel and Juan at Rancho Esquipulas.

i hope to meet you upon my return!

Thanks for offering to volunteer!

Hola Phil..

Sorry for the late reply, I wrote back a week ago but apparently my message got lost somehow.  Please use ecowayegmail.com for any future messages, thank you.

Tenemos espacio en julio, si todavía te interesa participar con nosotros.  Here is a link to a pdf file, please download and read it carefully, then get back to us with your arrival and departure dates as soon as you can.
