Profile Information

What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
My husband and I own and operate a very small organic farm in northern Minnesota and sell produce and honey at the local farmers market. The past twenty years have been spent making our farm a sustainable and vibrant ecosystem, with attention focused on protecting and promoting wildlife and pollinators. We have installed a solar photovoltaic system which generates more electricity than we use, we collect water from the roofs of our outbuildings and high tunnels to use to irrigate the vegetables, and we use only organic methods for fertilizing and pest control. Each year we attend a very large organic farming conference to learn of the latest strategies in organic farming.
What are your reasons for joining WWOOF Mexico?
Learning about sustainable living and agriculture, Getting to know Mexico better
What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
We care deeply about sustainable living and sustainable agriculture. We are both members of WWOOF Mexico seeking opportunities on organic farms together. With years of experiencing growing a variety of crops, we are interested in seeing and learning firsthand about other methods and strategies that we might bring back to our Minnesota farm. We are learning Spanish and are very excited to visit Mexico and to work with WWOOF farmers.

Oh great, thank you for getting back to me. I was actually planning on going in January. Do you mind if I reach out to you again in November to see how your experience went?

Thanks!

Whitney

Hi Don and Wendy,

I'm considering working at the coffee farm in San Juan Lachao. As it looks like you visited the farm, I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about your experiences?

Thanks,

Ben Slatky
