What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
Before travelling to Latin America, I did an internship with United Plant Savers in South-eastern ohio in order to help preserve native medicinal plants. --This past summer, I worked as Landscaper at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC for 40 hours a week and as student worker(15 hours/week) for the school year ('11-'12) ---I have been an integral part of my family's urban farm business. I Co-managed an urban farm at Newark Beth Israel Medical center in Newark, NJ; in a low income food insecure community. Tasks included but were no limited to cultivating herbs and vegetables, garden design, education with local youth, managing a farmers market. --Lived on a farm school/intentional community for 2 years that had a working organic farm.
What are your reasons for joining WWOOF Mexico?
Learning about sustainable living and agriculture, Getting to know Mexico better
What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
I'm 19 years old and have been passionate about gardening and food since I was a little boy. I am currently an inspiring herbalist. I find that I learn best, like many others, through experiential learning. This year(2012-2013) I will be traveling throughout North and Central America. I would describe myself as hard-working, knowledgeable yet eager to learn, curious, engaged, personable, intentional.
