What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
For 29 years my home was in rural Dallas County, Texas, where I had a home dairy goat farm, with horses, donkey, house cat, and barn cats. I know how to milk by hand; I can make cheese: cheddar, Colby, mozzarella, several types of fresh goat cheese, and, of course, yogurt. I am also familiar with animal health care – veterinary and delivering kids. I can sew and work in the garden. I can dig ditches, build fences, paint barns, and carry buckets of water – whatever is needed. For two years I worked at an animal education company and farmstead — http://www.cathyscritters.com/ — feeding and cleaning the cages of the rabbits, guinea pigs, and chicks, while assisting with business planning in the office. I have WWOOFed at La Finca Ecologico Quebrada del Platano in Santa Marta, Colombia, at Thom’s Elephant Camp in Pai, Thailand, and at the Becker Family Stock Farm in Thermopolis, Wyoming USA. English is my native language, and I am fluent in German and have “intermediate” Spanish. I am certified by the Texas Board of Education to teach high school (German and Spanish), and I have a master’s degree in business administration — so I can help with marketing, community relations, budgeting, overhead allocation, and that sort of thing as well. I love being outdoors, and am willing to do all kinds of work and projects. It is especially wonderful to meet people from all over the world, and learn about local culture by living it. SKILLS: feeding and care of animals, milking by hand and with milking machine, carpentry, fence repair, digging ditches, gardening, weeding, teaching, business skills
