What is your previous experience with Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development?
I grew up tending to vegetable gardens and hauling wood around my home, I've worked mapping and surveying forests in Alaska, I helped with garden and house construction in a Workaway program in France and greenhouse development in New Mexico, and in September I will start an MSc in international development at an agricultural university in the Netherlands.
What are your reasons for joining WWOOF Mexico?
Learning about sustainable living and agriculture, Getting to know Mexico better
What do you want the farms and fellow WWOOFers to know about you?
I'm a student with a passion for good food and sustainable food production systems. I'm looking forward to the chance to learn more about agroecology, work outside, and practice Spanish. About me - recently I've been managing a bed and breakfast (https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/6705529#reviews) so I've been housekeeping, preparing breakfasts, and getting to know people from different walks of life. As a student, I led multi-day backpacking expeditions in the backcountry, founded a group to increase local engagement with food sources, nutrition, and sustainability, and coached a team of orienteers (navigation racing). More than anything I can tell you I'll do my best to learn fast and work hard with whatever tasks come my way and I'm looking forward to new experiences and skills.
