Thanks for your interest in La Rosa de Las Barras. We are just now starting to plant for the Mazatlan Farmer's Market that starts November 17. It is still quite hot and wet here, but it will start cooling off soon.

I am just venturing into natural building and farming. I am wanting to learn as much as I can for the next few years of my life in order to buy land and start my own projects. I haven't had much experience with natural building or farming, and am excited to start learning. I am focused, creative and a hard worker. Natural building and organic farming are a way of life that I am trying to cultivate for myself. This is the way I want to live. I've always been environmentally conscious, and am also very aware of what I eat and where it comes from. This came from my previous partner who is a holistic nutritionist. I am most comfortable working with my hands, and communing with nature. I think we, as human beings, can cultivate the land in ways that is beneficial to not only us, but the land as well. This goes for building as well as farming. Sharing this knowledge with others is a huge part of that equation. By teaching each other, we allow for the growth of this type of conscious co-existence with our surroundings to flourish.

Nos interesa mucho tu perfil y tus ganas de trabajar. En estos días, el grupo de campesinos esta trabajando la construcción natural de su aula de capacitación, la ampliación de su huerto orgánico y el vivero de arboles nativos. Les falta mucho conocimientos, pero tienen las ganas de trabajar, que es lo mas importante. Este proyecto esta apoyado por una asociación civil, en cual trabajo. Estamos en la espera de financiamiento, así que por el momento, no pueden avanzar con el techo de las construcciones y con otros detallitos. Empecemos el proyecto hace un poco mas de un ano. El objetivo es proponer un modelo de desarrollo sustentable que tiene un impacto al nivel local, regional, nacional y porque no internacional. Queremos crear un centro autosuficiente, que no dependa de financiamientos externos, sino que crea su propia fuente de sustentabilidad : con la producción de arboles nativos, con la proporción de las capacitaciones... La particularidad de este centro es que sea manejado por los mismos campesinos. Acompañamos el proceso de confianza, trabajo en grupo, generación de empleos, organización... Como voluntarios, les podemos proporcionar el hospedaje, pero estamos en una situación precaria con la alimentación: todavía no empezó a producir el huerto, así que no tenemos disponible tantos alimentos, pero nos podemos comprometer a darles por lo menos una comida al día. Una cocina esta a su disposición por las otras comidas. Podrán participar en la construcción natural, en el cuidado del huerto, en el establecimiento de un huerto medicinal, en el cuidado de los animales, en la participación en capacitaciones... Es un lugar que tiene grandes oportunidades, así que estamos abiertos a cualquier idea, sugerencia... Así podrán participar en proyectos muy variados. Me lo imagino como un enriquecimiento y un intercambio de experiencias, ambas partes (ustedes como voluntarios y los campesinos) tienen ganas de aprender. I am sure that you will find lots of farms to wwoof at in the Santa Cruz area in the spring and summer. Then if you still want to come down here our busiest time is for planting starting in October and November. Maybe you could come here after the markers close for the farms in California. Just contact me again when you figure out when you want to come.

Thank you very much for writing and for your interest in helping us in our project.
You can visit us but I commented that these months will be a bit quiet because we are taking it easy after a very intense summers with more than 50 volunteers.
